The Art of Not Giving a F*ck

Full disclosure: when I first started blogging, I cared wayyyy too much about what people thought of me. But it’s weird – I cared more about what people who knew me thought rather than what my random followers thought. It used to drive me crazy knowing that some of my closest friends weren’t supportive of my decision to put myself out there like I did.

When I first launched my blog, being an influencer was still relatively new, especially in Sonoma County. No one here was really doing what I was doing, so in a way, it was foreign to people. But once I had a heart to heart with the people close to me about what I actually did, they began to understand why I was doing it. And now? They support me beyond belief.

That said, there are still others who roll their eyes at everything I post. I know exactly who they are and guess what? I don’t give a F*ck about what they think. To be honest, these so-called “haters” actually make me want to work harder and succeed even more. To them, I say, “F*ck you very much!” If you’re wondering how I got to this point, it’s simple: I stopped giving a F*ck. Listen: you can’t not give a F*ck about everything – but the art of not giving a F*ck is different: it’s more about being 100% authentically who you are, working towards being and doing 100% what you aspire to be and do, and not giving a f*ck if people like it or not during the process.

Here are the rules I live by:

Stay In My Lane
I started to put blinders on when I could hear people say things behind my back instead of letting it get to me. I have now trained myself to put my head down and turn that energy into focusing and working even harder towards my goals.

Pay Attention
Start to become more aware of the way people make you feel. When you’re around someone, do you leave feeling uplifted or do you leave feeling insecure or shitty about yourself? If it’s the latter, cut those people out of your life STAT.

Know My Tribe
Know the people you can trust, who support you, and who will be your biggest cheerleaders. And, do the same for them to make sure everyone wins.

Compete Only Myself
Unless you’re playing a professional sport, there’s no sense in competing with anyone but yourself. Turn the finger around and focus on you. Trust me, once you do this, you’ll be able to set your mind to anything.

It’s Not Me, It’s Them
Repeat this sentiment over and over again. When someone says something negative about you or discourages you from your dreams and goals, it’s just because they’re insecure about themselves. It’s not you – trust me!

Don’t Need Approval
Do whatever you want to do instead of letting the fear of what others may think get in the way. Go with your gut, not with your head.

Self Reflect
No one is perfect and to be totally honest, I think we could all benefit from owning our shit. When you do this, it builds character and confidence, ultimately making it easier to not care what people think.

I firmly believe that if you practice these 7 steps, you’ll get to a place where you’ll feel 100% like your true authentic self in no time. I hope this post helps set you free of any insecurities you may be going through and instead teaches you how easy it is to not give a f*ck!
