Honest Moment: Cancer Hits Home

I’m sure most of you have been touched my cancer in one way or another. Sadly, I have been touched by it more than once in my life. My moms best friend Linda is currently suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. When I found out, I was absolutely devastated. I have known Linda for my entire life and she has always been there for my family and I. She is the wife to the sweetest man, and has two sons and a daughter that were like siblings to me growing up. She also has ten grandchildren, endless close friends, and is the school counselor at a local Catholic elementary school.

Linda is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. Two weeks after Austin was born, Linda stopped by to see me with gifts in hand. While she probably thought she was going to walk into a house and be greeted by an excited new mama, I was everything but.  I was sleep deprived, depressed, and suffering from serious postpartum issues, and Linda sat down and listened to me cry like a baby about my struggles with breastfeeding, being a new mama, and finding balance in my new life. She reassured me that I was doing an amazing job, and stayed for hours, talking me out of one of the darkest moments of my life. I will never forget this day for as long as I live.

I know that I am not the only person that has a story like this about Linda. In fact, if you watch the video below, you will see firsthand how many people love and adore her. In the darkest moment of Linda’s life, everyone she has touched put on a surprise flash mob, showing her that she also deserves to be lifted up. I think her face truly shows that she was surprised, shocked, and beyond grateful. Linda, I hope you realize just how many people love you and are praying for you every single day.

Share this video with someone you know could use a smile. And while you’re at it, please say a prayer for Linda and her family. Let’s not all forget that life is short and it’s important to be kind and spread love always.

I know Linda and she is truly a very special person. It is sad to hear that she is so ill, but what a wonderful thing her family and friends have done for her. She will remember this until the end of her days but each and everyone who was involved will also have something special to remember.
I would love to know haw you pulled this off.

Thanks for the sweet words Barbara! I can’t take any credit for this though, it was all Linda’s family! xo
