Our Stay at the Farmhouse Inn

Having grown up in the heart of the Wine Country, you often hear locals rave about The Farmhouse Inn and how incredible the Inn and restaurant is.

Mark and I recently decided that this would be the perfect time of year to get away from the holiday stress around us, so we made the short 18-mile drive out to Forestville and entered this historic Farmhouse Inn Oasis. Surrounded by 400 amazing wineries like: Korbel ChampagneDRNK,  La Crema, Sonoma-Cutrer, and more, we were in awe the moment we laid eyes on this place. And after staying here, I can totally understand why it has been ranked #1 by Travel + Leisure two years in a row!

With the original farmhouse and 8 little cottages that date back into the 1800’s (the owner’s great grandmother use live in the actual Farmhouse back in the day), you can’t help but just feel the family history of this place. We walked into the most adorable lobby full of beautiful holiday décor and a crackling fireplace and were embraced by the warmest staff (who handed us a much-needed glass of wine!).

From there, we were off to our room. Upon entering this stunning space, we were greeted by a warm fire, soft music, and sweet holiday décor. I couldn’t get enough of the comfortable bed, indoor/outdoor fire pit, huge walk in closet, and the bathroom of my dreams. Every detail was well thought out, cozy, and comfortable. Mark and I were in awe (and basically wanted to move in).

The bathroom had a massive steam shower, heated floors (which was my favorite touch since my feet are always ice cold), and a bathtub that was literally smarter than me (kidding but it was extremely tech driven). I couldn’t help but take daily bubble baths.

One of my favorite little touches was the fact that one of their concierge staff would come to our room each evening, turn down our bed, and leave us homemade gluten free cookies and milk! Pinch me.

I was also obsessed with the little firepits around the hotel where we got to enjoy s’mores made from house-made marshmallows and Valrhona chocolates! These were honestly the best s’mores i’ve ever tasted.

The spa was designed to mimic an upscale barn-like vibe and offered some of the most amazing treatments I’ve seen thus far (and I’m a self-professed spa addict!). The ingredients that are used during treatments are farm-to-treatment, making them extra good for your skin and body. Be sure and check out all the amazing treatments they offer by looking at this menu!

On our first night, we made reservations at the Farmhouse Inn restaurant. This place has a Michelin star and after our meal we could instantly see why. Mark and I opted to do the wine pairing 3 course dinner (highly recommended!) and it was by far the best meal we had ever had! The server started out by letting us know that going with a wine pairing will make the food and wine taste better and he was spot-on with this reco. A wine sommelier came by to pour us a glass of wine and to explain to us why the specific wine he was pouring would complement the food we were about to eat. It was so educational to learn all about the different wines and where they were coming from. Our favorite dishes of the night (even though they were all exceptional and noteworthy) were the Kombu Cured Hamachi starter (seriously the best fish I have ever eaten) and the Snake River Farms New York Strip! From the service to the food, we couldn’t have asked for anything more! Here is a sample menu if you’re looking to see what this restaurant really has to offer.

Thank you so much to the Farmhouse Inn for hosting us. Our stay was truly an experience we will never forget.
