While we were on our trip in Seattle we traveled through Tacoma and stopped by a Fred Meyer because I had naturally realized as soon as we got there that I had forgotten some key essentials at home. I had a cart full of items like baby wipes, toothpaste, and even an umbrella, and proceeded to the front of the store to checkout. Upon standing in line at checkout with my energetic two-year-old, I saw the Spring Fashion Issue of StyleWatch magazine and immediately dropped it in my cart. I am the queen of impulse magazine purchases, so naturally, with it being freezing cold and rainy in Seattle on top of the toddler madness that was going on, I immediate knew I needed some spring fashion inspiration to offset the cold and crazy-kid situation. Because #momlife can get hectic, I never got around to reading the magazine while in Seattle or even on the plane because, let’s be honest vacationing with a two year is no vacation and we rarely had a second of down time.
However, when I got home I decided I deserved to award myself with a little “me time” after traveling on vacation with a toddler. For me, the perfect idea of “me time” is to literally go into my bedroom and close the door (okay, I may have even locked it) to my room. As soon as I got in my room, I pulled the unread magazine out of my travel bag, poured myself a hot cup of tea, turned on my favorite Lumineers album, lit a sweet scented candle, and literally just let the magazine that I never got around to enjoying on our trip take me away to relaxation land! Having time to myself, with zero interruptions all the while, reading my favorite magazine for inspiration, was exactly what this mama needed!
I constantly find so much of my photoshoot, blog post, and outfit inspiration from reading StyleWatch magazine and this issue was full of endless inspiration which didn’t disappoint! As I turned each of the glossy pages, I found myself folding down the corner of almost every page to have a look at later! This issue especially spoke to my personal girly and flirty style which made me so excited for the new season to be here! Some of my favorite highlights I found throughout the magazine were: how to rework your pleated skirt, dressing like a cover star, pretty prairie pieces (hello, ruffles!), how to style your casual joggers, playful picnic pieces, and finding trendy pieces at affordable prices. However, my favorite section in the magazine was hands down the spring trend report! I literally found 15 items that I plan to buy and work into my up-and-coming photoshoots. I am happy to report that my favorite ruffle trend is sticking around into spring as well as a new trend I am totally getting on board with: the girly utility trend!! Each trend spoke to me in a different way, so I am super-excited to show you what I come up with.
If you have the opportunity to award yourself with some down time, I suggest you head to your nearest Fred Meyer and pick up the Spring Fashion Issue of StyleWatch magazine.
