Celebrate the 4th of July with Red, White, and “Blue” Wine

This is for all of my patriotic wine lovers out there! This 4th of July, I wanted to give you some ideas on how to create a perfectly patriotic red, white, and blue themed wine pairing for your 4th of July get-together.

Read on for my suggestions. When it came to apps, I created a red, white, and blue themed cheese plate, complete with blue cheese, blue-ish grapes, marinated red peppers, white brie cheese, and a little lavender for garnish. I paired the cheese with some delicious Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc for the perfect finish – it’s full of flavor, is medium bodied, and has notes of gooseberries and citrus.  For the main course, I opted to grill up some rib eye steaks. I chose to cook mine in a cast iron pan, but this could also be done on a BBQ of course. There’s no better wine to pair with steak than Bear Flag Zinfandel. I swear it makes red meat taste 100x better. This is one of my go-to wines because it’s not overpowering, but really packs a punch. Oh, and how patriotic is that label?! I served the steaks with a baked potato and a fresh green salad for a balanced finish. And now for my favorite part – dessert! I simply baked a cake and added some fresh blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries on top for a holiday-ready, colorful touch. Pair it with some Laguna Ranch Chardonnay (it has notes of peach, apple, and orange so it’s ah-mazing with dessert!) and your guests will love you forever. This entire menu was so easy to put together and it was absolutely delicious too. If you’re planning to host a 4th of July get-together, I definitely suggest trying some of these fun wine and food pairings!

Thank you so much to Laguna Ranch, Bear Flag, and Whitehaven for sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
