There’s truly nothing like being in the mountains. For years, Mark and I have traveled to Tahoe with friends and family to enjoy time away from home, breathe in the fresh air, and take in the beautiful sights.
This year, we traveled up with our friends that also have a baby, so we needed a little extra space. While scouring the internet for the perfect home, I stumbled upon Tahoe Luxury Properties, who were quick to find us the perfect not-so-little cabin nestled deep in the woods.
The West Shore Log Home was just what we were looking for. This Tahoma-based property was warm and woodsy, but also boasted modern details and brand-new touches. It was tucked away on a quiet street, too, so it was virtually silent except for birds chirping from above. From the moment we walked into this peaceful space, we fell in love. The spacious living room had tall ceilings which gave it a loft-like, modern feel…and can we talk about the antler chandelier? It was an absolutely stunning piece that truly set the tone for this lovely log cabin. I especially loved how the space was made for entertaining – the kitchen island opened up right into the living room, which was perfect since we were able to cook and watch the kids at the same time.
With 5 bedrooms, it was easy to choose a room that the whole crew was happy with. The beds in this home were some of the best I have EVER slept in. From the ultra-soft sheets to the luxurious mattresses, I slept more soundly than I have in a long time. Bathrooms were spacious (the master had a soaking tub that looked like it was straight out of a magazine), the sitting room upstairs had a TV for entertainment, puzzles to choose from (we spent 2 straight evenings drinking wine and putting together a 500-piece puzzle!), and comfy, lived-in furniture. After the kids went to bed though, we made our way outdoors to the Jacuzzi – which was the perfect, most relaxing way to end the evenings.
Mornings were the absolute best, though. Every morning, we woke up, turned on the heated bathroom floors (I already told Mark we need these for our house), and made our way downstairs to the fully-upgraded kitchen to cook breakfast. Everything from the fridge to the oven to the microwave was top-of-the-line, which made it simple and fun for us to whip up gourmet meals while the littles played together in front of the floor-to-ceiling stone wood-burning fireplace.
After breakfast, we enjoyed time on the porch, taking in the beautiful sights, and letting the little ones run around on the quaint, quiet streets, collecting pinecones, and laughing on the grass.
Every single detail of this home was unreal. Every time I walked into a room, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the colors, textures, and details that the owners put into creating this dreamy abode. I left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the week. And to me, there’s nothing better than quality time with the people I love most.
Oh, and the best part? This home is currently for sale. Check it out here and let me know what you think.

Hi! I found your review of the cabin…we are staying there next month. I can’t seem to find any pictures of the hot tub?! We are a group of 10, with children so we want to make sure its a decent sized hot-tub for everyone to enjoy. I can’t figure out where it would be since the pics show the back yard…. if you could e-mail me back, I would appreciate it! Thanks so much!
Hi Katie,
Sadly I didn’t get any pictures of the hot tub and there were only four adults during out stay and we did enjoy the hot tub but I can’t remember how big it was. So sorry I can’t be of more help. Maybe the homeowner could better answer that questions. I can say, the house is amazing and you will love it! xo
