We decided to stay home this Holiday weekend since we have been nothing but on the go lately. However with the holiday I wanted to be sure to do something super fun and different so I decided to make homemade vanilla  ice cream using my one favorite kitchen gadgets: my Cuisnart Ice Cream Maker. Not only is this machine EASY to use the ice cream was DELICIOUS!! For the toppings I used S’More’s Ice Cream Topping from Sur La Table, whipping cream, and Salted Carmel Sauce also from Sur La Table. These were so delicious that I may more may not have had more than one helping. See below for the recipe!!

Homemade Ice Cream
Recipe Type: Dessert

Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ?¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ?pinch salt
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed or whisk to combine the milk, sugar and salt until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.
  3. Cover and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours, or overnight.
  4. Turn on the Cuisinart® ice cream maker; pour the mixture into the frozen freezer bowl and let mix until thickened, about 15 to 20 minutes. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours.
  5. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.
