I get SO many questions about my photos and I simply can’t take credit for the talent of photography that happens in my shots. So I thought it would be so fun to ask the women behind the lens herself some questions so you can get to know her a little better! Everyone meet Andrea Lowry! How long have you been a photographer?
My passion started in high school 18 years ago (yikes!) with real film and developing in a dark room. It has been a hobby ever since and about 2 years ago I turned it into a full time business.
How did you get started and what advice would you give to someone looking to get into being a photographer?
I started using a DSLR camera (Canon Rebel) I read the entire manual and learned my camera on manual mode, I was living in Arizona at the time and I would practice on all my friend’s kids. My best is advice is practice, practice, practice! Challenge yourself and don’t compare yourself to others.
What kind of camera and lenses do you use when shooting Erika?
I use Canon Mark IV and my go to lens is 35mm.
What’s your favorite part about shooting Erika? (be nice)
I was told to be nice so here goes. Honestly, I feel every part of shooting Erika is my favorite. We are ALWAYS on the same page with things, we laugh the entire time and she is just genuinely fun to be around.
What is your favorite post you and Erika have worked on together?
I actually don’t have a favorite post we have worked on, I enjoy every single one and I feel we really put our heart and soul into every shoot we do. I know, so cheesy but it’s true.
What’s your favorite fast food?
Not really a fan of fast food, but if I had to choose it would be In and Out Burger Animal Style!
Introduce your family to us…Kids, Hubby? Tell us a little bit about them.
What people might not know about me is I used to be a baseball wife, my husband used to play professional baseball. I quit my corporate job when we met and supported his career. We have been together for over 11 years and married over 8 years now. I was a wife and stay at home mom for the past 10 years, it feels so good to do something for myself again. I am able to raise my daughters Averlee (age 5) and Anniston (age 3) stay at home with them, make my own schedule and follow my dreams as photographer. I am so fortunate to turn my hobby into a career.
Do you use a certain filter on your photos when editing them?
My go to filters are VSCO, I love the film look.
What editing program do you use?
I use Lightroom for editing. I also have Photoshop but I find my work flow is faster with Lightroom.
What’s your favorite time of day to shoot?
Sunset baby! Golden hour, I call it prime time! the light is softer and gives that golden glow.
