There are few things I love more than the holiday season, and as soon as November hits, I’m ready to lean into all the festivities. The uptick in family time, gatherings with friends, and delicious meals that come during this time of year is all so special. With that being said, the holidays can also be quite hectic. So many parties and events take place, and while fun, it can also be a bit overwhelming.
To take some stress off of your plate, I’ve rounded up a handful of holiday party outfits (so you don’t have to think twice about what you’re going to wear.) I will say that seasonal items tend to sell out fairly quickly, so it’s best to plan ahead and nail down your looks with plenty of time to spare.
These holiday party outfit ideas would work for a variety of occasions and dress codes. Whether you’re attending a more formal dinner event or you’re heading to a laid-back gift exchange, these outfits will help you look the part!
Holiday Party Outfit Ideas
Satin Midi Skirt & Sweater (Office Party)
So many of you had questions about this sweater when I shared it on my Instagram and I thought it would make the perfect top to pair with a silk midi skirt. The sweater can be worn slightly off your shoulders, resulting in a flirty and fun fit (that still provides good coverage.) I own it in the gray but it’s also available in black, white, and a light pink!
This slip skirt would go with tons of outfits during the winter months — just add a sweater and coat on top and finish off with heels or booties. Because this look is simple yet elevated, it would make for a fool-proof choice for an office party or fancy dinner.
Sweater & Leather Pants (Neighborhood Potluck)
For a more casual gathering, opt for leather pants as your base layer. These have a cute silhouette and they also look incredibly forgiving. I also love that they have a shiny finish (making them sufficiently festive for the holiday season!)
The pop of color and pattern on this graphic sweater makes it the ideal complement to the leather pants. It is technically a men’s sweater, so be sure to size down from what you typically would wear. Regardless, I think going with something a bit roomier will offer a cozy and practical end result!
Sequin Midi Skirt & Blazer (Festive Night Out)
Heading to the ballet or on a fancy dinner date? You can’t go wrong with a sequin skirt. This one is under $80 and is a great length to wear with both tall boots, ankle booties, heels, and flats. Because the skirt is on the flashier side, I’d keep things relatively simple up top. A plain white t-shirt and classic blazer would be my choice.
For accessories, tie the silver sequin detailing in with a matching purse, shoes, and jewelry. These metallic heels not only work with this outfit but they’d also look so chic with jeans and a white sweater.
Off The Shoulder Top & Jeans (Gift Exchange/White Elephant Party)
Sometimes it’s best to opt for simple and streamlined pieces that you could easily rewear throughout the year. To recreate this outfit, pair your favorite jeans with this off-the-shoulder top. It’s made with a mesh fabric that gives it a more polished and “special” look.
Tip: To keep things from looking dull, incorporate some color with red heels and a bright handbag. Gold accessories and a bold lipstick can also add a feminine and fun touch!
Sequin Mini Skirt & Sweater (Dressy Dinner Party)
I may have saved my favorite outfit idea for last. There’s just something so chic about a neutral look, even during the holidays. The light brown color on this sequin mini skirt is so unexpected, and I think it pairs so beautifully with this white turtleneck.
These $38 earrings are so festive and they complement the skirt perfectly. I’d also accessorize with some beaded bracelets and a shiny clutch. Wear this to a dressy dinner party, work event, or for a night out with your girlfriends.
