Heart health is something that really hits close to home for me. In fact, my grandfather, dad, and brother have all had heart conditions. And since heart disease is the leading cause of death in women, I take this topic extremely seriously.
Because of this, I want to make sure keeping my heart healthy is a part of my everyday life. And to do so, I make sure to take time out of my week (usually on Sundays), to relax and enjoy some ME time. Typically, I take a nice long shower, light some candles, put on a hair and face mask, grab a cozy blanket and eye mask, pour a glass of wine (hey, it benefits the heart!), and read a book in bed. After this routine, I always sleep like a gem.
I recently learned about a contest Stage is doing with the American Heart Association and wanted to share it with you guys in case you want to get involved, too. During the month of April, simply share a photo on Facebook or Instagram with #BringHeartHome and Stage will donate $1 to the American Heart Association. It’s easy, quick, and charitable – aka there’s no reason not to do it.
Slowing down and taking time to relax is essential for heart health. In fact, many doctors believe that self care can sometimes be the best medicine. What do you do to better your heart health? Share it with me in the comment section below.
