Looking for an easy yet delicious appetizer idea? This mozzarella tomato app is a new favorite in our household, and it would be perfect to whip up when hosting friends and family this season!

Ingredients

  • 3–4 heirloom tomatoes, diced
  • 1 container buffalo mozzarella balls, halved
  • Handful of fresh basil, torn
  • Good olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
  • Maldon salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Crackers and freshly sliced bread, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the diced heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella.
  2. Add the torn basil.
  3. Generously drizzle with olive oil and a splash of balsamic.
  4. Finish with Maldon salt and cracked black pepper.
  5. Let everything marinate for 15–30 minutes so the tomatoes get juicy and the flavors meld together.
  6. Serve with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh sliced baguette for scooping up all the goodness.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Thinly sliced shallots
  • Calabrian chili flakes
  • Hot honey drizzle
  • Prosciutto on the side
