Looking for an easy yet delicious appetizer idea? This mozzarella tomato app is a new favorite in our household, and it would be perfect to whip up when hosting friends and family this season!
Ingredients
- 3–4 heirloom tomatoes, diced
- 1 container buffalo mozzarella balls, halved
- Handful of fresh basil, torn
- Good olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
- Maldon salt
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- Crackers and freshly sliced bread, for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the diced heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella.
- Add the torn basil.
- Generously drizzle with olive oil and a splash of balsamic.
- Finish with Maldon salt and cracked black pepper.
- Let everything marinate for 15–30 minutes so the tomatoes get juicy and the flavors meld together.
- Serve with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh sliced baguette for scooping up all the goodness.
Optional Add-Ins
- Thinly sliced shallots
- Calabrian chili flakes
- Hot honey drizzle
- Prosciutto on the side
- A little flaky parmesan shaved over the top
